January - 2020

1. CAS - the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters  - Deadline 15.01.2020

2. Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action- MSCA- ITN - Deadline 14.01.2020

Innovative Training Networks (ITNs) are the main strand of funding available to support Early Stage Researchers (doctoral researchers). The ITN scheme supports joint training and or doctoral programmes implemented by partnerships of universities, research institutions, research infrastructures, businesses, SME and other socio-economic actors.

3. Erasmus ansattmobilitet 2019-2020 - Deadline 20.01.2020

Universitetet i Bergen har fått tildelt mobilitetsmidler gjennom Erasmusprogrammet. Programmet har stipendmidler for ansattutveksling i tillegg til studentstipend. Ansattutveksling omfatter alle typer stillingskategorier, både tekniske-, administrative- og vitenskapelig ansatte. Det finnes mer informasjon om ansattutveksling ved UiB here.

4. Humanities: seed money to establish cross-faculty research collaboration - Deadline 01.02.2020

The seed money shall be used to prepare a project application for funding by the Research Council of Norway and/or EU funding. Embedded in the UiB’s strategy for humanities, these funds can give a solid boost to the interdisciplinary research at UiB by including the humanities’ perspectives into larger projects. 1. ERC Consolidator Grants - Deadline 04.02.2020

Are you a scientist who wants to consolidate your independence by establishing a research team and continuing to develop a success career in Europe? The ERC Consolidator Grant could be for you. You can also apply if you have recently created an independent, excellent research team and want to strengthen it. Information for applicants can be found here.

4. UiB - stipendiatstillinger innen det strategiske satsningsområder - Deadline 15.02.2020

Universitetet i Bergen inviterer til prosjektskisser for to stipendiatstillinger innen det strategiske satsningsområdene 1) klima og energiomstilling og 2) Globale samfunnsutfordringer. Satsingsområdets ledes fra MN-fakultetet i samarbeid med et tverrfaglig utvalg med representanter for alle fakulteter.

5. EEA and Norway Grants: Czech Republic - KAPPA - Deadline 27.02.2020

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) in cooperation with the Research Council of Norway (RCN) announced a Call for Proposals of the KAPPA Programme for industrial research, experimental development and innovation (Programme) financed by EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms (EEA and Norway Grants). 6. VISTA centre - 28.02.2020

VISTA have published a new call for VISTA Centers for Interdisciplinary Research on Future Energy Solutions within the following thematic areas:

1) Basin analysis, efficient resource identification and utilization, and unlocking new resources, or

2) Future development solutions, or

3) Sustainability, environment and low carbon solutions.

March - 2020

1. Diku - Fleksible utdanningstilbud - Deadline 02.03.2020

Med forbehold om endelig tildeling over statsbudsjettet for 2020, lyser Diku ut inntil 90 millioner kroner til utvikling av fleksible og relevante utdanningstilbud, som kan gis utenfor campus. Målet for ordningen er at universiteter og høyskoler skal kunne tilby fleksibel og relevant utdanning for studenter som ikke har anledning til å studere fast ved en campus. Les mer her.

April - 2020

1. Peder Sather Grant Program - Deadline April 1 2020 (extended deadline 01.05.2020)

The Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study supports projects carried out by researchers at UC Berkeley in collaboration with researchers from nine Norwegian universities. Funds are made available for two academic years. Grants can support activities such as workshops, mini-conferences, virtual intellectual exchanges, the undertaking of exploratory and pilot studies, activities such as PhD student exchanges, longer-term stays for Principal Investigators, the collection and analysis of data, and other core research activities. 2. JPI Oceans - MarTERA - Deadline 24.04.2020

MarTERA launched a joint call for transnational research and innovation projects in 2020. This call is initiated by ministries/funding organisations from 11 countries: Belarus, Belgium, France, Germany, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, South Africa and Turkey.  The transnational call has a budget of about 13 Mio € for collaborative research and innovation projects in the following areas:

  • Priority Area 1: Environmentally friendly maritime technologies
  • Priority Area 2: Innovative concepts for ships and offshore structures
  • Priority Area 3: Automation, sensors, monitoring and observations
  • Priority Area 4: Advanced manufacturing and production
  • Priority Area 5: Safety and security

5. NFR - INFRASTRUKTUR - Mandatory Outlines - Deadline 27.05.2020

Only applicants who submit a project outline under this call will be qualified to submit a complete grant application under the main call for proposals for the National Financing Initiative for Research Infrastructure (INFRASTRUKTUR) with the deadline of 18 November 2020. Applicants who have not submitted a project outline by the deadline of 27 May 2020 1 PM CET will not be eligible to apply for funding under the main call for proposals.

1. UiB Momentum – Career Development Program for Young Researchers - Deadline 05.06.2020

Momentum er UiBs karriereutviklingsprogram for yngre forskere - postdoktorer, forskere eller førsteamanuensis som ønsker å satse på en akademisk karriere ved et forskningsuniversitet. Ansatte i midlertidige stillinger må ha minst 12 måneder igjen av arbeidsavtalen sin.

2. UiB - POS Positioning funding - Deadline 05.06.2020

Positioning funding is divided into 3 categories:

  • Funds for researchers who are positioning themselves towards a HEurope application
  • Grants to fund strategic academic measures at Faculty level
  • Competence development funding for researchers and the EU administrative support staff at the Faculties

3. Diku - Program for studentaktiv læring - Deadline 08.06.2020

Diku lyser ut inntil 50 millioner kroner til prosjekter som skal utvikle, prøve ut, evaluere og ta i bruk studentaktive læringsformer og læringsfremmende vurderingsformer. Utlysningen er åpen for alle fagområder og retter seg mot utviklingsprosjekter som omfatter hele studieprogrammer eller større emnegrupper.

2. ERC Advanced Grant - Deadline 26.august 2019 17:00:00 Brussels time

Advanced Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements. Applicant Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. See more information here.

1. NFR Knowledge-building Project for Industry - Deadline 02.09.2020, 13.00 CEST

This is a joint call for proposals in which multiple Research Council programmes are participating. An estimated total of approximately NOK 278 million is available for basic and applied research activities alike. Read more details here.

2. NFR Collaborative Project to meet Societal and Industry-related Challenges - Deadline 02.09.2020, 13.00 CEST

This is a joint call for proposals in which multiple Research Council programmes are participating. An estimated total of approximately NOK 1.3 billion is available for basic and applied research activities alike. Read more details here.

3. NFR Coordination and Support Activity - Deadline 02.09.2020, 13.00 CEST

The AURORA and DAAD mobility programmes are designed to establish and expand the contact between educational and research institutions in Norway and corresponding organisations in France and Germany. Researchers from Norway may seek support for funding for short-term visits in France or Germany for the purpose of launching and developing new joint research projects. Applicants seeking funding for researcher exchange with both countries must submit two separate grant applications. Read more details here.

4. H2020-Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (MSCA-IF) - Deadline 09.09.2020 17:00:00 Brussels time

Individual Fellowships (IF) are aimed at individual fellows who already have a doctorate or equivalent experience, (An applicant must have a doctoral degree or at least four years of research experience acquired after a master's degree) Individual Fellowships aim to help experienced researchers to advance their careers and gain new skills through advanced training, international mobility, and optional intersectoral secondments. The host organization can  be universities and research institutes in addition to a company or other non-academic sector organizations. Read more details here.

November - 2020

1. NFR - Research Center - Deadline November 18, 2020, 13:00 CET

Norwegian Centres of Excellence – SFF-V – Phase 1

The SFF scheme gives Norway’s best researchers the opportunity to organise their research activities in centres that seek to achieve ambitious scientific objectives through collaboration and with long-term basic funding. This call comprises the first phase of a two-phase application process to select the fifth generation of the Centres of Excellence (SFF-V). Phase 1 is open to all applicants. Phase 2 will be reserved for prequalified applicants selected from the Phase 1 assessment process. Read more details here.

2. NFR - INFRASTRUKTUR - Deadline November 18, 2020, 13.00 CET

Please note that applicants who have not submitted a project outline by the deadline of 27 May 2020 1 PM CET will not be eligible to apply for funding under the main call for proposals. Read more details here.

    1. L. Meltzers Høyskolefond - Deadline 01.12.2020

    Stipend deles ut i ulike stipendporsjoner (maksimalt kr 75. 000). Tildelingen vil være avhengig av dokumenterbare utgifter i forbindelse med prosjektet – for eksempel faglige reiser, feltarbeid, utstyr, materiell etc. Fondsmidler kan ikke dekke søkers normale livsopphold på studiestedet, for eksempel stipendiatlønn eller lignende. Alle søknader til Meltzerfondet skal leveres på https://fond.app.uib.no/

    2. Bergen Universitetsfond - Deadline 01.12.2020

    Det kan søkes Bergen universitetsfond om tildeling til prosjekter for formidling og publisering av forskningsresultater og støtte til avholdelse av vitenskapelige konferanser, workshops etc. Mer info her.

    3. Olsens legat - Deadline 01.12.2020

    Til prosjekt i regi av forskere og stipendiater har universitetsstyret vedtatt følgende utdelingsramme for 2019 fra skipsreder Jacob R. Oslen og hustru J. G. Olsens legat:kr. 350.000. Mer info her.

    4. Vitenskapelige reiser og forskningstermin - Deadline 01.12.2020

    Universitetet i Bergen deler ut støtte til vitenskapelige reiser og forskningstermin. Midlene er en gave fra L. Meltzers Høyskolefond. Forskere fra andre universitet kan også søke om støtte til vitenskapelige reiser. Mer info her.

    The scheme for research stays abroad is available to doctoral and postdoctoral fellowship-holders who are wholly or partially funded by the Research Council and affiliated with an ongoing project for a period of minimum 24 months.

    Under this call for proposals, funding is available for researchers from other countries to carry out a research stay at a Norwegian research organisation. This call has an open-ended submission deadline, i.e. grant applications may be submitted at any time during the year, and will be processed on an ongoing basis. Research stays are to have a duration of minimum one month, and maximum 12 months.
