Ph.d.-profil: Vibeke Kroken

Complex public policy projects often require cooperation in inter-organisational networks involving several administrative levels (local, regional, national), private companies and non-market actors. Effective collaboration in such inter-organisational networks can be challenging since the individual network members come from different backgrounds and practices.

My PhD-project relates to the tensions that arise from differences in temporal structures, norms and rhythm that characterize members of governance networks within and across different governance levels. One of my ambitions is to understand how the temporal aspects of this interaction and the use of temporal mechanisms affect the function and efficiency of policy making and the distribution of power in governance networks.
