Professor Saket Saurabh has won in the category of mathematics, with the committee stating:

“Saket Saurabh has made fundamental contributions to the area of Parameterized Complexity and for leading the field by initiating new research directions to the community.”

Saurabh has previously received the prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant for his project “Lossy Preprocessing”. The overarching goal of the project is the development of a mathematical framework for the rigorous analysis of preprocessing algorithms.

Talking about the project in 2019, he said: "When solving a problem, everyone wants the correct solution, which often is not possible, if there is time constraint. Imagine that you have a huge amount of data and you only need some of it to solve your problem in the best possible way. If I succeed, I will be able to work through all the data, and give you exactly the data you need to process without losing much in accuracy; going from Big Data to Small Data, so to speak."

The Department of Informatics proudly congratulates Saket on his award!
