Møtet avsluttes med pizza med forfriskninger mot en liten kostnad.

Foredraget vil være en rapport fra et ferskt dypdykk i IUPACs arkiv for perioden 1920-2010. Mangfold og turbulens er to inntrykk som festet seg. Det ble gjort interessante funn om Norges innmeldelse i 1920, men det meste av foredraget vil ta for seg den langvarige striden om navnsettingen av grunnstoff og IUPACs arbeid med kjemiske våpen.

There will be a meeting in the Norwegian Chemical Society Thursday 7 March at 19:00. The lecture will be given in English if need be.

Title: IUPAC bak kulissene – IUPAC behind the scenes

Location: Tripletten (3069) Science Building, University of Bergen

After the lecture pizza and soft drinks will be available for a small fee.

The lecture will be a report from a recent investigation of the IUPAC archives from the period 1920-2010. Multifaceted and turbulent are two lasting impressions. Interesting facts about the entry of Norway into the union were discovered, but most of the lecture will be devoted to the long battle about naming chemical elements and IUPAC’s dealing with chemical weapons.
