NMR lab

NMR spectroscopy at UiB

The Department of Chemistry has three high-field NMR spectrometers, all located at NNP: A 500 MHz multi-purpose wild-bore spectrometer, and two liquid-state spectrometers: a 600 MHz and an 850 MHz. In addition, the department has 60 MHz benchtop located at the Science building.

The NMR labs at UiB uses Lab-IT for data storage and remote access. Lab-IT will ensure that insecure and vulnerable instruments can be safely connected to the UiB network.

NMR user fees

 The NMR instruments operate with an hourly rate (NOK/hour). The fee depends on the instrument and the funding source.

NMR sample preparation for liquid-state NMR

When making an NMR sample, ensure that you use the correct NMR-tube and sample volume. A range of deuterated and some non-deuterated solvents are possible.

Publishing NMR data

When publishing results from NNP, an acknowledgement needs to be included in the paper, and the NNP staff should be notified. NNP has to be included under Funding when registering in Cristin.

There are several software options for analysis of NMR-data, both freeware and commercial. We have licenses for TopSpin and MestReNova available.
