Research interests: I took my psychologist degree at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Bergen, were I also defended my PhD thesis: "Sleep and health in shift working nurses" in 2013. From 2013 to 2016 I retained a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for elderly and nursing home medicine at the faculty of dentistry and medicine. Currently I work as an associate professor at the Department of Clinical psychology at the Faculty of psychology, the University of Bergen. My interdisciplinary affiliations have allowed me to pursue a field of research including both psychology and medicine. Sleep has been, and still is central in my research, covering themes such as sleep and circadian regulation in shift workers, in nursing home patients and in persons with dementia. Old age psychology and dementia represent important interest both as a researcher, clinician and educator. Current research projects include: i) the COSMOS trial, were sleep has been assessed in nursing home patients receiving a complex multi-component intervention, ii) SLEEP.PAIN.DEM, an RCT investigating the effect of analgesics on sleep in nursing home patients with depression and dementia, and iii) DEM.LIGHT, an RCT investigating the effect of light exposure by therapy light rooms on sleep, circadian rhythm and behavioural and psychological symptoms in nursing home patients with dementia.
