Faculty of Law
Hovedinnhold
Melanie is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of LaW at UiB. Her research is located at the intersection of labour and social law with a view of the Europeanisation and internationalization of both areas of law. The overarching guiding research question for all projects she has been part of has been to identify what answers the current law can give us to tackle societal changes like demographic change, digitalization, and migration and how the law may be reformed to address these challenges. As of August 2023 she will lead the “LaW-BALANCE” research project funded by the Norwegian Research Council (NCR) and from June 2023 she will be part of the new “The Centre on the Europeanization of Norwegian Law (CENTENOL)”, also financed by NCR. Prior to joining UiB, she worked as a senior researcher (2015-2018) responsible for Scandinavia at Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich, Germany. Melanie obtained her PhD at the Faculty of Law at UiO in 2015. During her professional career, she also gained in-depth experience in project- and science management by being an elected member of the Scientific Council of the Max Planck Society and during her work as private secretary of Vice-President of TU Berlin and by later leading the division of Diversity, Inclusion and Internationalization within Strategic Controlling at TU Berlin.
