Jan Mayen Vent Field

The Jan Mayen Vent Fields are situated at the southernmost segment of the Mohns Ridge at a water depth of 550 to 700 m.  The hydrothermal fluids at this site are characterised by high CO₂ contents, providing the opportunity to study

- the dispersion of CO₂ in the water column

- potential effects of high CO₂ on marine ecosystems

- test CO₂ monitoring equipment
