How to apply to UNIS
You can apply to study at UNIS Svalbard if you are nominated for an exchange period at UiB.
Main content
UNIS - The University Centre in Svalbard
If you want to apply for courses at UNIS, you must apply for admission to both UNIS and UiB. You must follow both application procedures in detail and both UiB and UNIS require that you upload copies of official transcripts to document your grades and student status.
How to apply
1. Apply to UiB
You have to be nominated in our online nomination portal by your home coordinator before you can apply at UiB. You will receive a password from UiB to access UIB's Søknadsweb as soon as you have been nominated.
Choose International Application and log in with your email address and password. Apply for the course option called UNIS.
The applicaiton deadline is 25 April.
2. Apply to UNIS
Choose Register new international applicant. Write in your application that you are applying through an agreement with the University of Bergen.
The applicaiton deadline is 15 April.
UiB as a second choice
UNIS has limited enrollment capacity. We therefore recommend that you consider applying for courses at UiB as well as UNIS, that way you will have the option to come to UiB as a second choice.
If you want UiB as your second choice, remember to choose both courses at UiB and the option UNIS in UiB's application form.
Student housing
Once admitted to courses at UNIS you can apply for student housing in Longyearbyen through Samskipnaden.
If UiB is also an option for you, you may also apply for student housing in Bergen. You apply in Sammen's appliction portal during the period 1 April - 15 May.
You are safe to accept the contract for housing in Bergen, even if you have not received an offer of admission from us or UNIS yet. You can cancel your housing with Sammen if needed without any extra costs if you follow the housing provider's instructions and deadlines for cancellation (see bottom of page under Cancellation of the housing offer). The cancellation deadline is 19 June.
