What courses can I take

Courses in the spring semester:

  • ESC541: Environmental Economics: Introduction to the economic analysis of the environment by focusing mainly on concepts, models, and methods used in environmental, ecological and behavioral economics.
  • ESC539 ¿ Environmental Governance: A class on how people and societies handle the issues of coordination and conflict regarding use and protection of their physical environments. It is about clarifying what characterizes the challenges and how people have gone about solving them.
  • ESC59Y ¿Environmental Valuation and Cost Benefit Analysis: Introduction to the theoretical foundations of environmental cost-benefit analysis with a particular focus on both monetary valuation and its alternatives and critics. Different valuation methods such as contingent valuation, choice experiments, participatory multi-criteria evaluation among many others are going to be presented.
  • ESC578 ¿ Systems and Sustainability: Special topics on food, water, energy, conservation nexus, resilience, transition and sustainability issues in systems thinking in dynamic modeling approach.

Tuition fee

Erasmus students do not pay tuition fees at the host university, but must register and pay semester fees at UiB for the entire time they are abroad.

About the institution and the city

Bogazici University blei grunnlagt i Istanbul i 1863, som den første amerikanske institusjonen for høgare utdanning utanfor USA. Universitetet har stadig sterke band til det amerikanske utdanningssystemet, og all undervisinga blir gitt på engelsk. Dette er eit av dei mest prestisjetunge universiteta i Tyrkia. Dei 12 400 studentane er fordelte på seks fakultet og seks campusar. Dei to største campusane ligg sentralt plasserte langs breidda av Bosporossundet i Istanbul.

Istanbul er den femte største byen i verda, med nær 14,5 millionar innbyggarar. Denne byen, som lenge var kjent som Konstantinopel, har spela ei særs viktig historisk rolle. Blant anna har han vore hovudsete for fire store imperium: Romarriket, Austromarriket, Det latinske riket og Det osmanske riket. Byen ligg nordvest i Tyrkia, på begge sider av Bosporos, som skil Europa og Asia.

Accommodation

Universitetet har fleire studentbustader i Istanbul, og tilbyr internasjonale studentar innkvartering på den privateigde studentheimen Superdorm i bydelen Etiler. Her finst hovudsakleg dobbelrom eller trippelrom, som ein deler med andre studentar.
