MONITOR is a 4-year project funded by the Research Council of Norway. It is collaboration between the University of Bergen, the Norwegian Veterinary Institute and three land-based closed fish farms.

In this project we will monitor the bacteria in closed fish farms using modern analyzes of microbial community structures. We aim to survey the fish farms for bacteria that can affect the living conditions for fish, and also notify if the abundance of pathogenic microbes are increasing. In addition, we will study the bacterium Tenacibaculum in depth in order to understand its role in winter ulcer formation on fish.
