He joins the Department of Geography after short postdoctoral stints at Erfurt University in Germany and the Institute of Economic Growth in India, where he furthered work on resource politics in a conflict region based on a double PhD completed at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and Padova University in Italy. Over the past year, Siddharth developed an interest in energy transformation and undertook an Indo-American research consultancy on electricity distribution sector transitions.
He brings on board a background in Development Studies, with field experience in six regions within India, and expertise on democracy, institutions and state-building. Funding for the postdoctoral position comes from the Akademia agreement between the University of Bergen and Statoil, and from the Bergen Research Foundation for the project European Cities as Actors in Climate and Energy Transformation. We are looking very much forward to be working with him on new exciting research!
This is a video that Future Earth Norway made with Siddharth during "Ecological Challenges 2017: Systems Change" in February 2017. Siddharth works on changes in institutions and accountability relations towards transformative energy governance, and they asked him to tell briefly how his work contributes to systems change.
