Call for applications: Strategic Funds in Artistic Research at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design 2026
KMD invites employees in permanent or fixed-term positions to apply for internal project funding. UiB centrally has earmarked two million NOK for artistic research in 2026. The funds aim to stimulate increased research activity and quality at KMD.
Main content
The faculty accepts applications for funding within two categories:
| 1. Artistic research | 100 000 NOK – 800 000 NOK |
| 2. Publication support | max. 150 000 NOK |
Funds for artistic research may be awarded to projects within one or more of the faculty’s academic environments. The project must be relevant to one or more research groups.
Collaboration across research groups, departments, and faculties is encouraged.
The main activities of the project must take place at KMD.
Projects are expected to facilitate student involvement.
Applications must disclose any additional funding, including contributions from external partners.
Applications for publication support must concern the publication of results from artistic research in a lasting format, e.g., book publication, album release, or publication in an artistic research journal. For book or album projects, the applicant must explain print run, distribution possibilities, and any potential sales revenue.
Support may also be granted for the presentation of time- and site-specific results, provided these are documented in a lasting format and published on the faculty’s portal in the Research Catalogue.
All applications must address ethical considerations.
All applications must include a progress plan and budget.
The artistic results of the project must be documented and published through KMD’s research portal in the Research Catalogue within 6 months of project completion. Any other dissemination channels should be described in the application.
