Are you interested in how a lack of judicial accountability and independence can deeply impact not just the lives of individuals but that of an entire country? Then join us for an evening of Film, Reflection & Popcorn at the Bergen Resource Center on September 13th!
The documentary Presumed Guilty tells the compelling story of Mexican lawyers Hernández and Negrete who attempt to defend a wrongfully convicted man against a disdainful judge and a legal system crippled with corruption. While this box office record holder paints an intimate picture of an individual story, it also gives crucial insights into the Mexican legal system as a whole. These insights will be further discussed in a debate following the movie.
Moderator: Siri Gloppen.
Popcorn and other snacks will be served.
The event is free and open to all and organised by Centre on Law & Social Transformation.
