The research group focuses on basic research in personality and social psychology driven by scientific curiosity. This includes empirical research projects, theory development, and meta-theoretical discussions of conceptualization, measurement, causal inference, and methodology.
The group subscribes to a broad conception of personality, studying both dispositional traits and various aspects of the personal worldview, such as ideological preferences, moral convictions, beliefs, and values. The focus is both on advancing our understanding of how to conceptualize and measure personality and on causal transactions between personality and other types of psychological and environmental factors. The group also focuses on traditional topics in social psychology, such as social identity, group dynamics, and social perception, particularly within the political and moral spheres, as well as contemporary issues, such as polarization, misinformation, and antidemocratic tendencies. Many of the topics are at the intersection of personality and social psychology.
