The Holberg Prize goes to Ian Hacking
Philosopher and philosopher of science Ian Hacking was awarded the Holberg International Memorial Prize for 2009.

The prize was presented by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette Marit at the Håkon’s Hall. The Canadian philosopher of science thereby became the sixth Holberg laureate. The Holberg Prize Academic Committee describes Mr Hacking as one of the most important philosophers and philosophers of science in our time:
’His combination of stringent philosophical and historical analysis has fundamentally changed our understanding of how key terms arise through scientific practice and in given social and institutional contexts. His work uncovers science and social sciences' normative and social implications.’
Ian Hacking is a professor at the University of Toronto. Many of his 13 books have been translated into Norwegian.
