Research interests: In my research I wish to further understand how socioeconomic conditions are associated with child and adolescent mental health. To study this, we use epidemiological surveys such as the Bergen Child Study and also several other surveys. More recently we have been able to link the Bergen Child Study surveys to register data from national databases such as the National education database and the Norwegian Patient registry, allowing us to capitalize on the detailed information in our surveys as well as the high quality information from national registers. I am also involved in other research projects where we are interested in specific groups, such as single minor refugees and other refugees. In some of these projects we also work closely with the services to help them align with user needs. I am also a researcher in the New Patterns project, an intervention study for low-income families that is implemented in ten municipalities in Agder. In this project we restructure how we help these families through a family-coordinator that coordinates the services around the families according to their own needs. We monitor family members annually using register data, surveys, qualitative studies, and we monitor services using ethnographic approaches to be able to guide further implementation and upscaling of the intervention. In my other research, I am interested more generally in risk- and protective factors for mental health, and moderators of the associations between such factors and related outcomes. I have also conducted several studies into measurement and instrument quality, from a psychometric perspective.
