Main content

The collection consists of bird skins (ca. 6500 specimens) but also birds stored in ethanol (ca. 400 specimens) and an egg collection (see separate description). A few older and mounted specimens, which have a special historical value, are also included here. In total, about 830 species from all over the globe are represented but the main foci are Norwegian/Nordic species.

Birds prepared for the collections today have mainly been accidentally killed (on windows, in traffic, in fishing gear, by cats, etc.).
