Research Group for Language Testing and Assessment

The Research Group for Language Testing and Assessment was formed in 2002, as part of AKSIS, and was taken into the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Humanities, University of Bergen in 2013.

We have been commissioned to develop many tests in English, and have built up considerable expertise, for example in making digital tests for young learners, and in linking test scores to the CEFR. We have carried out research, often within international projects, on a range of aspects of language assessment, and have built an electronic corpus of pupils’ writing (CORYL), from data collected through our tests. We were founder members of EALTA and continue to be very active members of this organisation.
