Subatomic Physics
Subatomic physics is the study of the basic building blocks of nature, and their interactions. The activities in this group is mostly closely related experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland. We are organized as two subgroups, the group for particle physics, whose main activity is related to the ATLAS experiment, and the group for high energy nuclear physics that centers around the ALICE experiments.

About the research group
Our participation in ATLAS and ALICE covers a wide range of activities within instrumentation, data analysis and handling: Development of radiation sensors and microelectronics; instrumentation; handling of huge amounts of data and the development of sophisticated data algorithms for data analysis using the most modern tools of Artificial Intelligence.
