Design Practice 3 - Iteration and Elaboration

The course aims to further specialisation in own master project, with particular emphasis on the students further developing their inquiries, communicative skills, primarily within visualisation and presentation.

Content:

The course addresses the following topics:

• Contextualisation of own master project and its wider social implication, and relevant professional subject areas.
• Elaboration of the core, processes, and contexts of own master project.
• Master project¿s process with progress plan for further implementation.

The students combine and collate insights and findings from previous courses. They use materials from the research they have carried out, lessons learned from the joint project/collaboration and methodological skills in the elaboration and delimitation of own master project.

Feedback from the main supervisor, other supervisors and fellow students is important in a phase where students make decisions that determine the direction for the realisation of the project and draw up a plan for further work.

On completion of the subject the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills, and general competence:

Knowledge:

• how to summarize practical and theoretical research relevant to your own project

Skills:

• document progress and experiments in own development work.
• conceptualise design issues at a professional level.
• demonstrate professional rhetorical skills visually, in writing and orally.
• assess and present own practice in a broader design-theoretical, cultural and social context.
• reflect and contextualize their research findings.

General competence:

• take independent decisions and make necessary delimitations in own project.
