Norrøn grammatikk i hovuddrag (A Short and Concise Introduction to Old Norse Grammar)
A trial edition of a new, more concise Old Norse grammar book came out during the autumn of 2008. This grammar book is the first of its type to have a linguistic glossary.

Norrøn grammatikk i hovuddrag was written by Odd Einar Haugen and a trail edition was published on 15 September 2008. It is intended for use by sixth form and university students, but it can also be ready by anyone with a general interest in Old Norse. This grammar book is based on Grunnbok i norrønt språk, the first edition of which was published in 1993 while the fourth and most recent edition was published in 2001. The number of pages has been reduced by half in Norrøn grammatikk i hovuddrag, although the main contents found in the elementary book are still there, despite the heavy cuts. The aim has been to make these two books complementary and to enable those readers who have been working with the shorter version to refer to the elementary book and find more a more detailed discussion about the many grammatical characteristics.
