Sofia Frost Widnes' dissertation

Pharmacist Sofia Frost Widnes have investigated both the need for and risk perception of drug information in pregnancy. Friday 25. October 2013 she defended her thesis «Drug information in pregnancy - attitudes and needs among pregnant women and physicians».

Main content

She has been a PhD candidate at Department of Clinical Science, supervised by Professor Anne Gerd Granås and Professor Jan Schjøtt. Through four papers she has investigated differences between common drug information sources, how physicians evaluate and use advice from drug information centres when treating pregnant women,  how pregnant women with epilepsy perceive risk when using medicine, and risk perception of medicine use in pregnancy based on patient information leaflets, among pregnant women and their general practitioners.

These findings can help develop better information about medicine use in pregnancy, both for health care personnel and pregnant women. The result could be greater patient safety and more appropriate medicine use.

Congratulations from all colleagues at Centre for Pharmacy!
