About the Communication Division

The Communications Division plays a key role in facilitating internal and external information at the University of Bergen. The division offers expertise in strategic communication, consulting, journalism, media relations, public affairs, social media, video, photography, web publishing, and graphic design.

The Communications Division is led by Anne Line Grepne and is organized into two sections:

Section for Research Communication and Public Affairs

This section is responsible for research communication and communication support to academic faculties, as well as leadership support, media relations, and public affairs.

  • Leadership support, courses, and training
  • Media relations and monitoring
  • Research communication
  • International collaboration and externally funded research (BOA)
  • Government and public affairs
  • Internal communication – leadership support
  • Communication responsibility connected to major events
  • Social media – research communication (older target audience)

Faculty Support Team

The section includes the Faculty Support Team which consists of the following staff: Amanda Schei (team leader and contact for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Science and Technology), Margareth Barndon (contact for the Faculty of Psychology), Janne-Beate Buanes Duke (contact for the Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design), Kristine Gabrielsen (contact for the Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Humanities and Fine Art, Music and Design), Paul André Sommerfeldt (contact for the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Law) and Linn Therese Nicolaysen Hauan.

The team works closely with academic communities at the faculties and provides comprehensive and strategic communication support. The team has a particular focus on research communication—including media relations, advice on external funding (BOA), and support to leadership and academic environments. The team serves as a link between the faculties and the rest of the Communications Division.

Section for Student Recruitment, Web, and Design

This section is responsible for student recruitment, marketing, and graphic design services, and is responsible for the operation and development of the communication channels that are owned by the Communications Division.

  • Channel management and development
  • Social media (young target audience)

Staff: Trine Elise Holst Roness, Marthe Rekdalsbakken, Margareth Haugen, Anne-Lise Nordgulen, Marianne Manchanda Kvamme, Maren Bjotveit, Regine Rosland Lunde, Markus Scholz, Bendik Ødven Andersen, Christian Bakke, Fredrik Hajian (40%), and Patricia Valecillos Marcano (80%).

The Communications Division also includes Silje Vik Pedersen, who is the leader of National Science Week ("Forskningsdagene i Bergen")
The division also collaborates closely with the UiB Learning Lab, particularly with the staff members who are working on various forms of video and audio production.
