Errata
Formal errors (punctuation, typos, minor layout changes etc.) may be corrected in the thesis. The deadline for applying for correction of formal errors is one week after the candidate has received the recommendation.
Main content
After submission of the thesis, you as a PhD candidate may apply for permission to correct formal errors (punctuation, typing errors, minor layout changes etc.) in the thesis. The PhD thesis will be assessed exactly as it has been submitted, and the corrections will not be sent to the evaluation committee. The application must include a complete overview of the errors (errata) which the candidate wishes to correct. A template for errata is available in Avhandlingsportalen (under the heading About the thesis template). The deadline for applying for correction of formal errors is one week after the candidate has received the recommendation. An errata may be submitted only once.
What are formal errors?
Formal errors include correcting typos and plain grammatical errors, missing punctuation, correcting references, page layout, text format, etc. Correcting formal errors means that the text can be made more meaningful or linguistically correct, while the content of meaning in the text cannot be specified or changed. Changes to tables are not accepted as errata. The provision that no substantial changes can be made also applies if the candidate is informed before the defense that a submitted article has been approved or published by a publisher, but in revised form. It is the submitted article script that is to be used as a basis for the defense, but the candidate can refer to the final journal article in the preface to the dissertation that is printed for the defense.
An approved errata list must always accompany the thesis when changes are made. Neither the corrected version of the thesis nor the errata list shall be submitted to the assessment committee.
Changes in the thesis
You can edit the changes (errata) that have been approved for correction in the final version of the thesis that is printed and published in connection with the defense. The approved errata list must then be added as an appendix to the printed thesis.
