Professor Kjell-Morten Myhr was appointed Vice-Rector at the University of Bergen in the spring of 2025 for the term August 2025 – August 2029. His areas of responsibility are research, innovation and collaboration.
Myhr has served as Director of the Neuro-SysMed Centre for Clinical Treatment Research (FKB), funded by the Research Council of Norway, and as coordinator of the Horizon Europe project EBV-MS, focused on the treatment and prevention of multiple sclerosis (MS). He is a Professor of Neurology and has previously led the Norwegian National Competence Centre for MS (2001–2013) and the Norwegian MS Registry and Biobank (2001–2017). He also served as Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine 1 (K1) at the Faculty of Medicine, UiB (2017–2022).
Myhr has been a board member of the Norwegian Neurological Association (2014–2018) and was Director of the first KG Jebsen Research Centre (2010–2015) with a focus on MS. He has contributed to initiatives promoting the university’s policies for early-career researchers and has extensive experience in recruiting students and young researchers for career development at UiB.
Myhr emphasizes the unique opportunities for collaboration across departments and faculties at UiB in research, innovation, and infrastructure initiatives. He works to further develop partnerships with hospitals and other educational and research institutions at the regional, national, and international levels.
