Analysis seminars: Spring semester 2012
After the 3-month stay in Stockholm, at the Mittag-Leffler institute, the members of the Analysis group finally got back to Bergen and are ready to start dealing with new mathematical challenges again.
Main content
The list of activities planned for this semester includes (among other things) the traditional analysis seminar and three mini courses, where we learn new topics and share this knowledge with other members of the analysis group (and everyone interested).
Analysis seminar
The analysis seminar is held on Tuesdays, at 14.15, room 534, Carl L. Godskes hus
Studying Grassmannians
This mini course is run by our new PhD student Christian Autenried. He is going to use some of the chapters of “Principles of Algebraic geometry “, by P. Griffiths and J. Harris, and probably many other sources that he and his supervisor will find relevant.
Christian lectures on Mondays, 14.15-16.00, room 526, Carl L. Godskes hus (NB: room 510 on January 23rd)
Infinite dimensional spaces and manifolds
We will follow the book “The convenient setting of global analysis” by A. Kriegl and P. W. Michor (an electronic edition is available at the second author's home page http://www.mat.univie.ac.at/~michor/apbookh.pdf). We are planning to take turns reading different chapters of the book.
The course is taught on Wednesdays, 10.15-12.00, room 526, Carl L.Godskes hus
Sub-Riemannian geometry
This is an introductory course taught by Irina Markina and mainly aimed at the new participants of our group, Christian Autenried and Mahdi Khajeh Salehani. However, if you are interested in attending the course, feel free to contact Irina.
The course is taught on Fridays, 8.15-10.00, room 535 (Irina's office)
