Physicist and photographer Franz Josef Natschläger is visiting the research group for Digital Culture at UiB and will give a guest lecture on the development of photography.

The lecture starts with a short survey of the evolution from analog to digital photography, beginning with the "camera obscura" and ending with mirrorless cameras. Afterwards Natschläger will present an Austrian comparative study of May 2019 (Market Institut Linz/Austria) on how young people use the web for communication and what is important for them, focusing on the major development we have seen during the last few years. The third part of the lecture is about physical constraints and impact of the materiality in photography, from paper based to screen based representation of pictures.

The talk will be in English.

All students and employees are welcome!
