Christian Irgens - Marine Biology

Christian is working on his Masters in Marine Biology and study otolith growth and formation in relation to the settling dynamics of juvenile Northeast Arctic cod (Gadus morhua).

Main content

The objective is to establish an otolith based method of determining timing and size of 0-group cod at settlement, and investigate this in correlation to geographical distribution and temperature differences between years. Knowledge of settling dynamics may also contribute to enhance the precision of recruitments estimates.
