Welcome to the University of Bergen Ronghao!
Thank you for the warm welcome! I am so honored to join the group as a new postdoc!
Can you tell us a bit about yourself, as well as your academic background?
My name is Ronghao Cui. I recently completed my PhD in Earth Science and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). During my PhD studies, I mainly worked with Shuyu Sun at KAUST and S. Majid Hassanizadeh from Utrecht University. My research focused on experiment-driven numerical methods for fluid thermodynamics in subsurface porous media. This included the implementation of molecular simulations and the development of in-house pore-network models. In addition, I also had the opportunity to gain industry experience through a three-month internship at the EXPEC Advanced Research Center, Saudi Aramco. There, I contributed to developing numerical solutions for H₂S-contaminated reservoirs. This internship also provided me with the valuable insight into how academic research can be applied to real-world energy challenges.
Can you tell us a bit about your project?
My postdoctoral research will be part of the MaPSI project, where I will focus on numerical simulations in poromechanics and its coupling with flow processes. I will be working on this project under the supervision of Inga Berre, Ivar Stefansson, and Jan Martin Nordbotten.
