Department seminar Monday 12.15 Aud. 5 by A. Cilona on deformation of porous carbonate rocks

Hovedinnhold

Dear all,

On November 9th (Monday) Antonino Cilona will visit our department and
give a seminar. Dr. Cilona is known for his work on deformation processes
in porous carbonate rocks, and will summarize his research in this field
during a joint GEO/CIPR seminar on Monday. Should be on the must-see-list
of anyone with an interest in structural geology, geomechanics, carbonate
rocks, fluid flow, reservoir geology, and more.

Time: Monday November 9th at 12:15
Place: Auditorium 5, GEO
Title of talk: Natural and man-induced localized compaction in carbonate
reservoirs

About the speaker:
In 2007 Antonino (Nino) Cilona got his MSc from Camerino University
(Central Italy), where he focused on structural geology and reservoir
characterization. In 2012 he achieved his Ph.D. in the same University
with a thesis entitled “Deformation processes in porous carbonates: field
and laboratory observations”. From 2012 to 2013 he worked as structural
geologist for Midland Valley Exploration Ltd. (U.K.). From 2013 to 2014 he
was Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University (U.S.A.). There he studied
the effect of faults and fractures on fluid flow and contaminant transport
in collaboration with the University of Guelph (Canada).
In 2015 he joined the Carbonate Research Team at Shell Global Solutions
International where he works in structural geology and geomechanics.

About the talk - see attached abstract.

Best regards,
Atle Rotevatn (GEO)
Anita Torabi (CIPR)
