Harvey Smith professor Cindy Van Dover receives an honorary doctorate from the University of Bergen

Thursday 30 August, at 14:15 in Realfagbyget’s Auditorium 4, a member of the Centre for Geobiology’s Scientific Advisory Committee, Cindy Van Dover, will give a guest lecture entitled: "Offshore ocean exploration, industrialization and conservation". Friday she will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Bergen for her contributions to deep-sea research.

Cindy Van Dover is a Harvey Smith Professor of Biological Oceanography, the Director of Duke University Marine Laboratory and Chair of the Division of Marine Science & Conservation at Duke University in North Carolina. Her experience lies in the ecology of chemosynthetic ecosystems. Other areas of expertise include biodiversity, biogeochemistry, conservation biology, ecology, and marine science.
