Research Group for Computer Games and Virtual Environments

Main content

Demonstrasjon av AR

The research group for computer games and virtual environments builds on several research initiatives at the institute. The research group is a further development of the cross-faculty Network for game research (NFS), which is an informal meeting place for researchers and master's students at UiB with an interest in game research.

The research group is based on an awareness that the technology's characteristics have a significance for social interaction and for how these technologies are integrated into cultural contexts. The group is interested in the socio-cultural aspects of computer games and virtual environments broadly speaking, and studies both the practices with which users themselves encounter the technologies, as well as the characteristics of the technology as such.
