Patrick Smith

Patrick Smith is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at King’s College London, and a consultant clinical psychologist in a specialist UK National Health Service clinic for children and young people affected by trauma.

Patrick Smith has been a member of the Children and War Foundation Board since soon after its founding, and he is a past chair of the Board. He is a co-author of the Foundation’s CBT-based intervention, Teaching Recovery Techniques (TRT). He has worked on projects with children and young people in humanitarian and post-conflict settings including Bosnia-Hercegovina (for UNICEF) and Palestine; and he has delivered training in other trauma-affected environments in the UK and internationally.

With colleagues at King’s, he is collaborating on global mental health projects including developing and trialling intervention for young people with depression in India, Nepal, Ghana, and Zimbabwe.
