"The goal of this talk is to briefly define "the digital humanities" and place it in its theoretical and historical contexts.

Following this, I introduce the pioneering work of postcolonial scholars, namely Roopika Risam, whose work engages the skewed power relations of colonialism as they surface in the digital milieu. I deploy Risam's own words when doing so, and briefly mention two case studies of corporate digital advertising to substantiate this research.

I conclude with the work offered by Dorothy Kim and Jesse Stommel to offer counterpoints to the work of Risam while encouraging the audience to think about #DHpoco in the context of their own projects and lives."
