Main content

The workshop will be led by Camilla Soelseth and will introduce the tool 4CAT, in addition to related tools such as Zeeschuimer and Zeehaven, for digital collection and analysis of data from social media and online forums. 

Target group: Students and researchers in the humanities and social sciences who want to collect and analyze data from social media and online forums 

Objectives of the workshop: To learn how to collect (relevant) material from the web, perform exploratory analyses of material at an aggregate level, and become confident in handling material from the web and make good ethical decisions about the use of material in a research project. 

Structure: 

  • Presentation of tools, data types and digital ethics Demonstration of collection with Zeeschuimer (and further use with Zeehaven/4CAT) 
  • Practical session: Designing your own searches, collection and simple analyses 
  • Short presentation and discussion of results from the participants 

Participants will be able to use 4CAT actively during the workshop.
