We’re happy to announce an industry-oriented data science hackathon at CEDAS!

Building on wonderful experience from our 2023 event, we – at the CEDAS Center for Data Science at UiB – are excited to prepare a new data science competition that will happen during early February in 2025.

The new hackathon will take place during a weekend and will culminate in a prize for the best solution(s). There will be two categories for the assessment: Bachelor's level and Master’s + PhD level. Participants are encouraged to work in groups of up to four people – either formed up-front or on the first day of the event.

Together with Eviny, we will work on a dataset representing charging sessions of electric vehicles, where participants will be challenged to explore, present and analyze the data, as well as doing predictions on unseen data.

Sign-up for the hackathon will be open for all Bachelor, Master, and PhD students at the Department of Informatics (UiB), or/and affiliated with CEDAS, or/and with interest in expanding their experience within data science based on a practical problem. Naturally, there will be a limited number of seats. No previous knowledge in the energy domain is required but having some basic insights into methods from data science, machine learning, statistics, and/or visualization is beneficial. All contributions will be assessed by researchers working in related areas, and the top submissions will each receive a reward.

Stay tuned for updates!
