Objectives and Content

Objective: The goal of the course is to convey an understanding of the properties of strongly interacting (QCD) matter

Content:The course includes models for heavy ion collisions, kinematics, correlations, equation of state for nuclear matter, particle production in nuclear collisions, phase transitions, quark-gluon plasma and its experimental signature.

  • an thorough overview over heavy ion physics at medium and high energies
  • a broad basis for further experimental and theoretical studies

Required Previous Knowledge

Minimum 60 ECTS in physics

Forms of Assessment

Oral exam.

Grading Scale

The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
