Rashid Sumaila won the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement for 2023
Fisheries experts Daniel Pauly and Rashid Sumaila have won the University of Southern California’s Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement for 2023.

Many congratulations to Daniel Pauly and Rashid Sumaila who won the University of Southern California’s Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement for 2023. The award is often dubbed as the “Nobel Prize for the Environment”.
It is especially nice for Department of Economics at UoB to greet Rashid Sumaila for his achievement, Rashid received his Ph.D. in Economics at our department. During his doctoral studies, a few fellow student advised Rashid on the benefits of slower progress. Rashid responded: “That would be difficult for me - and no less so for my mentor Sjur Didrik Flåm.”
