“The strategy is a document of value that defines us. At the same time, it sets some visions and ambitions for the University of Bergen in the years leading up to 2030. I would like to thank all the employees and students who have been involved in the strategy work,“ says Rector at UiB, Margareth Hagen.

She is supported by Vice-Rector Pinar Heggernes, who has led the process of preparing the university’s new strategy.

“It has been inspiring to lead the work on the new strategy. It has been a good and inclusive process, in which the entire organization has been involved and provided input. The strategy should give the university, employees, and students direction going forward, and communicate this clearly and invitingly to the outside world”, says Heggernes.

UiB's new strategy will protect the university's fundamental values and clarify UiB's important role as a manager and creator of independent knowledge. It must also emphasize academic freedom, critical thinking, ethics, and honesty.

- At the same time, the document will indicate how we will further develop as a research-intensive university with ambitions for international high quality in research, education, dissemination, and innovation, says Hagen.
