Individual, interpersonal and organizational factors in safety in petro-maritime work

The petro-maritime industry involves risk for minor and major accidents, collaboration between various actors, units and collaboration under conditions that can be ambivalent and noisy, and are likely to be influenced by individual, team, leadership, organizational and work-environment factors. 

We have performed three biannual survey data collections for all the vessels operating in Equinor's fleet of supply, emergency and anchor-handling vessels on the Norwegian Continental shelf. We have collected data on safety climate, personality, communication, leadership, work organization, situation awareness, safety attitudes, risk assessment and safety performance. The work has resulted in stakeholder reports and in scientific articles.
