Agreement with external company or institution
The master's project can be done in collaboration with a company or an institution outside UiB. In this case, a collaboration agreement must be entered into between the department and the external company or institution. This agreement states the student's rights, and describes the university's and the external institution's rights and obligations related to the master's project.
This agreement is to be completed in consultation with the supervisor.

Open access to the master's thesis
You own the rights to your Master's Thesis. Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA) is a national service for registration and reporting of research output, and access to research publications. UiB encourages all students to make their Master's Thesis openly available in NVA. The thesis is then searchable and accessible online. If you choose not to make your thesis available in NVA, information about your thesis will not be openly available. UiB stores all Master's Theses in a closed digital archive, including theses that are not made available in NVA.
When you submit your Master's Thesis at vurdering.uib.no, the thesis will by default be made available in NVA in accordance with Agreement on the availability of master theses, unless you actively choose not to make it openly available.
If you do not want your Master's Thesis to be available in NVA, please choose so in your submission. You can alternatively choose to postpone making your thesis available for 1-5 years. The information about your Matser's thesis is then made available in NVA, while the thesis file itself is closed for 1-5 years. Delayed availability can be useful if you cannot publish the thesis straight away, for example if you are going to publish based on the thesis, or if the thesis is part of an unfinished research project.
If your Master's Thesis does not receive a passing result, it will not be available in NVA, even if you have agreed to this in your submission.
Your Master's Thesis is made available in NVA when the thesis has received a final passing result. That is, after you have had your Master's Thesis approved and the deadline for appealing the grade has expired.
