Examples of how you can describe the use of AI – Faculty of Science and Technology

The table on the use of AI at the Faculty of Science and Technology shows how AI can be applied in different ways in teaching and assessment. On this page, you will find examples of how to describe your use. There may be specific rules for individual courses. There may also be separate requirements for descriptions in master’s theses.

A: Use of AI for brainstorming and starting work where text is not directly reproduced.

Indicate the program and prompt. Describe how AI was used in the idea phase. Example description: The service [write program] was used for brainstorming to [find a problem, give ideas for topics, etc.] The following prompt was used: [write prompt]

B: AI as support for language editing and improvement of your own text.

Indicate the program and prompt.Example description: The service [write program] has been used for language editing and/or improvement of the text in the report/assignment. The entire text was processed by the program with the prompt: [write prompt]. Then the text was changed several times [how]. The final result was fact-checked and somewhat rewritten by the author(s)

C: AI as support for visual representations that are not part of your own results.

Indicate the program, prompt, and which images it concerns. If the representation is a reworked version of someone else's representation, indicate the source. Example description: The service [write program] was used to create image/figure/table X based on [source]. The prompt was [write prompt].

D: AI as support for presenting academic content based on your own data/results/analyses.

Indicate the program and which figures/graphs/images, etc. it concerns in the figure/table text. Example description: The service [write program] was used to create image/figure/table X. The prompt was [write prompt].

E: AI as support for programming.

Indicate the program, prompt, and how AI was used. Example description: The service [write program] was used to generate code for analysis/debugging codes, etc. in the following way [how]. The prompt was [write prompt].

F: AI as support for interpreting and discussing academic content.

Indicate the program, prompt, and how AI was used. Example description: The service [write program] has been used as an analysis tool to interpret data/analyze text, etc. to [explain use]. The prompt was [write prompt]

G: AI as support for generating text.

Indicate the program, prompt, and which parts of the text were written by AI. Example description: The service [write program] was used to generate text in the following sections of the assignment [details]. The following prompt was used: [write prompt]. Then the text was changed several times [how]. The final result was fact-checked and somewhat rewritten by the author(s)
