Support for marine cooperation in 2026
Do you need support for an ocean-related activity that will promote marine collaboration between different units at the University of Bergen or in our region? It is now possible to apply for strategic funding from UiB Ocean. The main application deadline is 16 March 2026.

Strategic aim
UiB Ocean seeks to stimulate marine collaboration, both within UiB and with marine actors in the region. Individual research expenses or travel support to conferences etc. will not be provided.
The focus of UiB Ocean in 2026 is on ‘the Polar oceans’ and applications related to this topic are especially welcomed. The same applies to applications that aim to prepare interdisciplinary grant proposals to e.g. the Research Council of Norway or Horizon Europe.
Practical information
- UiB Ocean can support 8-10 interdisciplinary ocean related projects with a maximum of 50 000 kroner in 2026.
- The main application deadline is Monday 16 March.
- The main contact (sender of the application) must be employed at UiB.
- A minimum of two units at UiB must be engaged in the application or the application must involve minimum one other actor in the Bergen region.
- The applications will be assessed by the UiB Ocean Steering Group.
- You can expect to receive an answer within 3-4 weeks after the application deadline.
- If there is money left after the main deadline, additional proposals will be considered.
