The project Ageing, Family Ties and Public Policy (AGEFAM) 2013-2017 is financed by the Research Council of Norway (NFR).
The focus is on intergenerational ties and the interplay between informal services in the family and the formal provision of care within the welfare state.
We want to look at how elder care influences employment and welfare transfers use among adult children. We want to study the role grandparents play for child care and child development. We are interested more broadly in how family investments and public policy shape the future of children, also with a focus on divorce and lone parents. We are interested in how family matters for pension uptake and health care use among the elderly. A further topic is the social and economic mobility of people across generations.
