Ronny Tømmerbakke: Diagnostics of seismic signatures in the Hoop area with regards to burial uplift

The project investigates how the seismic signature of potential reservoirs in the Hoop area of the Barents Sea have changed throughout burial history.

Illustration of burial and uplift through geological time

Main content

Reservoir properties develop through a number of processes from mechanical and chemical compaction during burial and fracturing of cracks during uplift. Areas in the South-Western Barents Sea have experienced a number of burial and uplift episodes the last 100 Million years. The project aims to investigate through rock physics modelling how the seismic signature of potential reservoirs in the area have changed throughout burial history.
