Learning in the digital age

Metacognitive feelings for text material presented on paper, computer screens and electronic reading devices.

The combined focus on digital competence, learning strategies and lifelong learning in the Knowledge Promotion Reform (Kunnskapsløftet, 2006) necessitates more knowledge about the relationship between metacognition and learning outcomes in a digital context compared to more traditional, paper-based contexts. The aim of the current study is therefore to explore metacognition related to learning when text is presented either on paper or on different types of digital screens, including electronic reading devices.
