Main content

EpiReg represents a system for the prospective and digital registration of information about patients with epilepsy treated at the Department of Neurology, Haukeland University Hospital. The system includes information obtained by doctors and nurses, as well as patient-reported data obtained via an app developed together with Checkware. Haukeland University Hospital is the registry owner. The information collected in EpiReg is used in research as well as in quality control projects. It is also used in daily clinical work to assess the need for and the optimal type of follow-up. Blood samples collected from patients in EpiReg are stored in our biobank for further analysis. Our goal is to include all patients diagnosed with epilepsy who provide informed consent into the EpiReg database. So far, we have had a particular focus on those with newly diagnosed epilepsy (EpiNy), and on women in reproductive age. In projects, we aim to combine clinical data, registry data, and biomarker data obtained from EEG and blood. EpiReg collaborates with and has a leading role in the national Norwegian initiative EpilepsiNett.
