The annual Respiratory Health in Northern Europe (RHINE) meeting brought together partners from Aarhus (Denmark), Bergen (Norway), Gothenburg, Umeå, and Uppsala (Sweden), Reykjavik (Iceland), and Tartu (Estonia) to share updates and explore new analyses based on RHINE data.

Researcher Shanshan Xu presented findings on the association between environmental exposure and COVID-19 infection, while PhD student Robin Mzati Sinsamala shared results on the effect of the urban exposome on wheezing and chest infections, using data from a project conducted in Barcelona. Both presentations generated active discussion and sparked interest among colleagues.

GAP researchers found the meeting to be a valuable opportunity for exchanging ideas, receiving feedback, and strengthening collaborations across the network.

Professor Ane Johannessen, leader of the GAP research group, is the coordinator of the RHINE study from the fourth stage onward. The GAP research roup continues to use RHINE data in ongoing projects and looks forward to contributing with further analyses as the collaboration moves into its next phase.
