Imaging the face in the Biometric Passport
Liv Hausken's research on the Biometric passport investigates the current practices of biometric passports in a selection of western countries to discuss the subtle shift from identification papers to body surveillance that has taken place through the last part of the twentieth century.
The Lecture is open for everyone.

Liv Hausken is Professor and the head of the department's research area Media Aesthetics. She has a doctoral degree (Dr.art.) in Media Studies from the University of Bergen, where she defended her doctoral thesis about modern experience of temporality studied through narrative theory, photography theory and slide-motion film (1999). Her main research interests are within the interdisciplinary field of Media Aesthetics, exploring the relations between technology, aesthetics (perception) and mediation.
She is a MC member of the COST action New MAterialism: Networking European Scholarship o how 'matter comes to matter' and a participant in the research network Go Figure: Visualising Climate Change (FIGO). She is currently co-editing a special issue of Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience on The Processes of Imaging / The Imaging of Processes with Bettina Papenburg, Sigrid Schmitz, and Natasha Myers.
Hausken is a member of the board of the Aesthetic Seminar, an open, interdisciplinary seminar at the Humanistic Faculty at the UiO.
Liv Hausken's areas of research, teaching and supervision includes photography, scientific imaging, biometrics, surveillance, aesthetics, narrative theory and film.
